Abuse and Neglect
Abuse and Neglect
Treating people with dignity and respect requires that they are free from abuse and neglect. As employees of Region V Services, you are required to comply with the Nebraska law regarding the reporting of abuse and neglect of vulnerable people.
Any person who observes abuse/neglect or has reasonable cause to believe that it has occurred must either report or cause a report to be made to the Nebraska office of either Adult Protective Services (APS) or Child Protective Services (CPS). Reporting may be done by any Region V Services employee or their supervisor.
If an employee makes any direct report to an outside agency, the employee must also notify a manager within RVS. Knowledge of abuse that is not reported is a criminal offense according to Nebraska statute. If a person is in immediate danger, law enforcement should be contacted immediately.
