AIT - Certified Black Belt Assessor Course 3 - Assessing

The purpose of this course is to set a starting level of black belt assessor. To begin the process of turning AEGIS black belts into the best in the world. For now, to turn them into black belts that we are proud of.

This will change all of us and the way we teach, how we teach and the expectations that we set for our teaching. It will also help us to define what the physical part of AEGIS is.

This assessor process will help us to stop the usual deficiencies that we see in technique and to correct them earlier than ever before. Long before they reach the level of Black Belt.

This all links to what we are trying to achieve through AEGIS, which is to improve how we function both physically and mentally. To function better is to be more efficient and in physical terms we must examine what we do and then how we do it better.

With this in mind we must look at those movements which are fundamental to full and efficient function such as; the squat, the press, throwing, pulling and pushing and lifting. Once we have this basis of bio-mechanically correct, functional movement we can use this as the basis of improving our martial arts.

Thankfully, we already have the tools to examine and test movement efficiency through DELTA, PDR and the FPC. Also, we have the rules of 5 which are templates for how functional movement changes under different circumstances such as; distance, direction, level and the like.

So, get ready to closely examine what we do, how we do it and how we can do it better AND teach it better.
