AIT - Teaching - Graduations

Graduations, sometimes called ‘gradings’ or ‘belt tests’ are essential toward building a successful academy. They allow students to be recognised for their progress in martial arts and a sense of progress ensures low attrition, a family atmosphere and a bench-strength of future instructors who can go out and open their own academies.

Every graduation has two key goals to achieve:

            - Increase the commitment/involvement of each student

            - Enrol new students

Existing students increase their commitment through moving up a belt, upgrading and/or cashing out their current program

New students are derived from the guests of existing students and family/friends members of those testing.

Make sure you ALWAYS have an offer to promote on the day and that it is presented well.

Encourage family members to step up to the AEGIS challenge.

Leverage the energy and emotion of the event to encourage family and friends to step up and existing members to move up.

Remember: students who pay more stay longer. Students who feel progress stay longer and students who train with their family and friends stay longer too. All this when added together makes a happy and long lasting academy which should be your ultimate aim in being a professional martial arts instructor.
