Managing Common Side Effects of Antidepressants

This Research Review E-Learning Module is designed specifically for busy GPs and is based on the Research Review Dialogues in Psychiatry webinars “Managing Antidepressant-induced Sexual Dysfunction” and “Antidepressant-induced Liver Dysfunction” with Dr Jon-Paul Khoo, Brisbane psychiatrist and Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychiatry and University of Queensland.


This E-Learning Module covers:

  • Serious reactions related to the use of antidepressants on patients regarding antidepressant-induced liver dysfunction and AISD (Antidepressant-induced Sexual Dysfunction).
  • Sexual and liver dysfunctions as an adverse effect of antidepressants including background of hepatic illness in psychotic populations, AISD, drug-induced and antidepressant liver injury.
  • Clinical management and treatment of patients with antidepressant-induced liver dysfunction and AISD.

Learning outcomes

After completing this module you should have an improved understanding of how to:

  • Identify serious reactions related to the use of antidepressants
  • Outline sexual and liver dysfunction as an adverse effect of antidepressants
  • Determine ongoing treatment options for patients experiencing adverse effects with antidepressants
