Thinking and Working in Systems

Welcome to Thinking and Working in Systems Course!

Root Change developed this course in collaboration with the Aga Khan Foundation and Keystone Accountability, with support from the USAID Local Works program to equip staff and civil society leaders like you with the knowledge, skills, and tools you need to map, analyze, and strengthen systems. We believe that creating real, lasting change requires the contributions of multiple actors across sectors--ranging from civil society to government and from businesses to community leaders. By improving the ways that actors work together you can achieve more sustainable impact.

This course is made up of four modules, each consisting of several video lessons:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Systems Thinking
  • Module 2: Systems Mapping
  • Module 3: Systems Analysis
  • Module 4: Systems Strengthening

Throughout the course, there are additional resources that you can review to learn even more about systems and four brief quizzes at the end of each module to give you the chance to test your own understanding of the lessons. You’ll also have a chance to test your understanding of system mapping by logging into Pando, a system mapping tool.
