"Universal Precautions", as defined by the CDC (Center for Disease Control), are a set of precautions designed to prevent transmission of bloodborne pathogens when providing first aid or health care. Universal Precautions assumes that all human blood and all human body fluids are infections and should be handled with appropriate protective measures. Universal Precautions apply to blood and body fluids containing blood.
