The challenge: keeping exams secure and credible

We needed professional, independent digital exams

MFFA Europe specializes in training programs for first aid, fire safety, and emergency preparedness. By 2020, they realized their paper-based exam system was no longer reliable or sustainable. Exams were accessible to instructors ahead of time and often discussed in class, undermining their value.

To meet external certification standards and ensure a secure testing environment, MFFA needed a better solution. “We didn’t want to be in a position where we were marking our own homework,” explained Thomas. “We needed professional, independent digital exams.”

The solution: a secure LMS with real-time results

MFFA adopted Easy LMS in 2020, immediately using it to administer randomized, secure exams. “We never really explored other platforms,” Thomas said. “We found what we needed right away.”

Exams are now randomized, results are instant, and instructors no longer have access to the exam content, solving the key issue of exam integrity.

For participants, the process is seamless. Learners receive a link, input a code, and complete the exam. Results are available immediately. “It’s user-friendly, which is crucial for our target group — often students or young professionals.”

Academy: streamlining pre-course learning

Later, MFFA added Easy LMS’ digital academy to support pre-course preparation. This was a major upgrade from the bulky printed books they previously used. The new method includes:

  • Condensed printed material focused on practical skills.

  • Supplementary theory hosted in the academy.

  • Access granted to participants prior to the start of their course.

This has allowed learners to prepare ahead of time, helping instructors save time during live sessions. “It’s a win for everyone,” Thomas said. “Less paper, better preparation, and a more efficient classroom.”

Business model: scalable and instructor-driven

MFFA doesn’t deliver most courses directly. Instead, it licenses its training method to external instructors, many of whom are teachers at vocational schools or freelance first aid professionals.

Instructors undergo a multi-day training to become certified, then purchase course materials and certificates from MFFA. Locations pay an annual fee for access, and instructors use MFFA’s learning content and digital exams to train their own groups.

This model makes LMS adoption even more critical as the foundation of a distributed, quality-assured training network.

The results: trust, efficiency, and customer satisfaction

MFFA didn’t set formal KPIs at the start, but the goals were clear: digital transformation had to be smooth, effective, and user-friendly. And it was.

Today, even instructors with minimal tech experience are able to use the system. “We worried at first — would it be too big a step? But almost everyone adopted it quickly.”

They also report:

Looking ahead: adapting without compromising quality

Demand is rising for shorter, more flexible training options — especially from schools and businesses with limited classroom time. MFFA is responding by developing lighter versions of their courses, supported by theory modules in Easy LMS’ digital academy.

But they’re cautious not to compromise on quality. “We see some competitors go all-digital with low-effort training. That’s not us. We believe in blended learning — digital where it helps, physical where it matters.”
